Baby Name results & contest winner!

March 3rd, 2010

So, it seems as though *I* won the spelling contest, as “lee” was my favorite way of spelling the name and it got 4 votes! My husband prefers “ie” because he think it will be less confusing to pronounce and she’ll have less problems in life if we go that way… My opinion? I have a boy’s name, and it isn’t spelled the way most people think it should be. I always got called the wrong names growing up – Tyler, ect. – and was made fun of for being a girl with a boys name. Times have changed and Taylor is a very popular girls name for children under the age of 5. My husband, son, and I all have uni-sex names and I think that Charlee is cute for a girl. As for whether or not my husband will agree with me on the spelling… probably not… but it was still nice to hear what ya’ll thought and to know that you agreed with ME!

Here is the results:

IE – 2
Lee – 4
Leigh (i think this is cute too, only too long) -2
Ley – 1

(if the numbers don’t add up to you its because one entry had two spelling suggestions.)

So without further delay the winner -chosen using Random.Org- is entry number 7, Emily! Emily please contact me to claim your loot and thanks to all for participating! I’ll try to do more contests more often. :)

Baby names (and a contest!)

March 1st, 2010

We have decided on a name, but we can’t really agree on how to spell it. It appears that my husband will win this little battle, but I am interested in your opinion also.

To keep things fair I won’t mention who likes what spelling most & if it helps the middle name will be Grace.

Charlee or Charlie

Vote by leaving your opinion in the comments section of this post. To make things more interesting I will be giving away a $20 Shutterfly gift card to be used at Shutterfly.com  to one lucky reader who speaks up. Thanks for your opinion and good luck!!!

Entry time ends Tuesday at midnight CST. Winners will be annouced on Wednessday morning.

Originally I planned on giving away one copy of Prayers & Promises for Mothers as part of my contest, but I love all of you… so you each win!

I’ll order the books this week and have them out to ya’ll when they get here. Thanks for participating!

Just for kicks, if I were to have only picked one winner it would have been Kim because she won the actual drawing.

Prayers & Promises (my first GIVEAWAY!)

May 13th, 2009

Character, discipline, gentleness, obedience, protection, patience, self-control, worry . . . Moms have so many important concerns to bring to God-and often so little time to meet with Him. Prayers & Promises for Mothers can help to bridge the gap. It’s brimming with nearly two hundred scriptural promises and companion prayers that seek God’s blessings on all the practical issues of a mother’s everyday life. Moms can use them as personal “prayer starters,” or simply as daily devotions.

I was given this book, Prayers & Promises for Mothers, on mother’s Day at an event I attended. It is a paperback book filled with bible verse referances, short prayers, and devotions  for the everyday concerns of a mother. So far I really like this book, and I want to share it with you.

So, (drum roll please…) I am going to give away one brand new copy of this book to someone who reads my blog! I’ll be keeping my copy, so we can read through it together.  Currently, I don’t have many readers so your chances are pretty high! Also, if i just so happen to get alot of entries i’ll give away more than one copy so that your chances to win remain high…. tell everyone you know to enter!

How to enter:

Leave a comment on this post before Friday at noon (CST).

Your comment can be about anything. You can tell me about your mother, you can tell me about your children, you can tell me about your favorite bible verse, or you can simply say “hi” or “enter me”. If you are not a mom, you can enter to win for a mom you know and love…. everyone is welcome here!

One entry per person, please. Winner will be chosen at random, and announced here Friday afternoon.

Good luck!
